As far as a cable, I purchased one from an authorized Standard Horizon dealer, (Defender Industries - Waterford, CT).
Sounds a bit extreme to me but who knows. Does anybody have access to this? Does this sound familiar / correct? I have CE129 V1 but tech support says do not use this - it will "brick" the radio.
RT SYSTEMS USB 57B DRIVERS SERIAL NUMBER
Tech support says the "45" in my serial number indicates I need Standard Horizon Software CE138 Version 2. The dealers are useless and Standard Horizon Tech Support says the radios are serial number / lot specific in reference to the programming software and version. Its a marine radio capable of an additional 40 LMR channels from 136 to 174 MHz. I am trying to program my new Standard Horizon HX380 radio with ham frequencies.

Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value.
